OUR STORY

WELCOME TO OUR HOME.

We bought this property in 1979, back when it was just an old farmhouse and an open field. In the 40 years since, we ripped down the house, rebuilt it, raised three kids, and spent all of our freetime gardening. Over the years, the field was home to snowmobile rides, kids sports practices, kite flying with our grandson, and even our 40th anniversary celebration. But as avid gardeners and creators, we always dreamed it would be more.

While on lockdown in 2020, we began building our greenhouse. We designed and built it ourselves,  using old windows, and bits and pieces we had collected over the years. We expanded the vegetable garden, put in a small orchard, and in 2021, we began growing flowers to sell at a little roadside stand. But still, we didn’t know what to do with that big, sandy field. Until, by chance, we learned that it was the perfect place for lavender. Finally, 40 years later, we had big plans for that field!

With the help of our children—and our neighbor’s tractor—we planted 1,000 lavender plants. And then another. And then just a few more, because once you start it’s hard to stop! We wanted our farm to be more than a place you cut a bundle of lavender and leave, so we filled it with comfy places to sit, beautiful places to snap a photo, relaxing music, and lots of love.

In 2023—the summer of our 50th wedding anniversary—we opened the gates of Lavender Bliss Flower Farm, and were blown away by the warm reception from visitors who made all of our hard work and attention to detail worth it. This summer, we hope you’ll visit us, and see what we’re so excited about. Stroll the lavender field, wander through the cutting gardens, and visit our gift shop full of hand-crafted lavender items and gifts. Big ideas are blooming on our little farm—come watch us grow!
